ट्रचिंग ग्राउंड में कूड़े के निस्तारण की प्रक्रिया शुरू कराने के अवसर पर आयोजित कार्यक्रम में महापौर अनिता ममगाई ने कहा कि ट्रचिंग ग्राउंड में पिछले चार दशकों से गिराये जा रहे कूड़े की वजह से कूड़े का बड़ा पहाड़ खड़ा हो चुका था। इसकी वजह से गोविंद नगर क्षेत्र के लोग विभिन्न बीमारियों से जूझने को मजबूर थे। शहर की इस सबसे बड़ी समस्या का निस्तारण होना निगम प्रशासन के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक सफलता है। उन्हें खुशी है कि इसके लिए की गई लंबी मशक्कत कामयाब हो पायी।
नगर निगम महापौर अनिता ममगाई ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि ट्रचिंग ग्राउंड को शिफ्ट किए बगैर ठोस अपशिष्ट के निस्तारण एवं प्रोसेसिंग प्लांट की योजना को साकार नहीं किया जा सकता था। हांलाकि, इसके लिए तमाम प्रयास और लम्बी मशक्कत करनी पड़ी। महापौर के अनुसार अंतरराष्ट्रीय ख्याति प्राप्त धार्मिक एवं पर्यटन नगरी ऋषिकेश में लाल पानी कक्ष संख्या-1 में ठोस अपशिष्ट के निस्तारण एवं प्रोसेसिंग प्लांट लगाने के लिए भारत सरकार द्वारा सैद्धांतिक स्वीकृति मिलने के बाद भी विभिन्न तकनीकी पेंच थे, जिसके लिए आवश्यक कदम उठाए गये।
