जिसके बाद विगत 6 जून को उसकी बीवी मुस्कान अपनी मुंहबोली मां शीला के साथ इलाज कराने के बहाने चली गई। उसके जाने बाद वेद प्रकाश अपनी अलमारी चैक की तो पता चला कि मुस्कान उसमें से एक लाख रुपये कीमत के जेवर, 48 हजार रुपये नगद तथा एक मोबाइल फोन अपने साथ ले गई है। जब उसने मुस्कान को फोन किया तो मुस्कान ने उससे कहा कि वह अब कभी भी वापस नहीं आने वाली है। वह उसे भूल जाये।
मुस्कान ने उसे धमकी भी दी कि यदि वह उसे पीछे पड़ा तो वह उसे झूठे मुकदमों में जेल भिजवा देगी। उसके बाद वेद प्रकाश व उसके मामा मूलचंद ने मुस्कान के बारे में जानकारी जुटाई तो उनके पैरों तले जमीन खिसक गई। उन्हें पता चला कि मुस्कान उससे पहले चार अन्य युवकों से शादी कर उन्हें भी लाखों रुपये का चूना लगा चुकी है।
