मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी के नेतृत्व में देश में समृद्ध खेल संस्कृति का विकास हो रहा है जिसके परिणामस्वरूप हमारे खिलाड़ियों द्वारा विभिन्न खेलों में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर सराहनीय प्रदर्शन किया जा रहा है। राज्य में खेलों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए नई खेल नीति को लागू की गई है। खेल नीति में खिलाड़ियों के उन्नयन और उनके बुनियादी सुविधाओं के लिए व्यवस्था की गई है। खेल व्यक्ति के चहुंमुखी विकास के लिए लाभदायक हैं। खेल हमें समयबद्धता, धैर्य, अनुशासन और समूह में कार्य करने की प्रेरणा भी देते हैं। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि खेल के क्षेत्र में हमारे युवाओं द्वारा अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भारत का नाम रोशन किया जा रहा है।
पुलिस महानिदेशक अशोक कुमार ने कहा कि उत्तराखण्ड में अखिल भारतीय पुलिस तीरंदाजी प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन पहली बार हो रहा है। इस आयोजन में 19 राज्यों की पुलिस टीम समेत सशस्त्र बलों को मिलाकर कुल 26 टीमों द्वारा प्रतिभाग किया जा रहा है। 14 से 19 दिसम्बर तक चलने वाली इस प्रतियोगिता में कुल 316 खिलाड़ी प्रतिभाग कर रहे हैं, जिनमें 196 पुरुष और 120 महिला खिलाड़ी शामिल हैं।
