स्वागत समारोह में उपस्थित कार्यकर्ताओं को संबोधित करते हुए प्रदेश अध्यक्ष करन माहरा ने कहा कि कांग्रेस पार्टी सभी वर्गों, सभी धर्मों तथा सभी जातियों का समान रूप से आदर करती है तथा सदैव समाज के अंतिम छोर पर बैठे व्यक्ति के साथ खडी रहती है। कांग्रेस पार्टी लोकतांत्रिक पार्टी है तथा हमें परिस्थितियों का सामना करना आता है। हमने 1977, 1989 एवं 1996 का विपरीत समय देखा है। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा ने हमेंशा झूठ का सहारा लिया है तथा जनता की भावनाओें से खिलवाड़ किया है परन्तु अब जनता भाजपा के झूठ और फरेब की राजनीति से ऊब चुकी है तथा आगे उसके झांसे में आने वाली नही है। भाजपा की कथनी और करनी में अंतर है उनका लोकतंत्र एवं लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों में विश्वास नही है। भाजपा सत्ता के बल पर सिद्धांतहीन राजनीति कर देश की एकता व अखण्डता से खिलवाड़ कर रही है। केन्द्र की भाजपा केवल यूपीए सरकार द्वारा चलाई गई योजनाओं का नाम बदल कर काम कर रही है उसने अपने आठ साल के कार्यकाल में कोई भी ऐसा काम नहीं किया है जो आम जनता एवं देश हित में हो। उन्होंने कहा कि आप कांग्रेस विचारधारा के पोषक एवं संवाहक हैं, कांग्रेस के रक्षक होने के नाते हमें भाजपा की गरीब, मजदूर, बेरोजगार व महिला विरोधी मानसिकता के खिलाफ समय की आवश्यकता को देखते हुए तन-मन-धन से खड़ा होना है। पूर्व सांसद प्रदीप टम्टा ने सभी पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं से एकजुटता के साथ पार्टी की नीतियों को जनजन तक पहुंचाकर संगठन की मजबूती के लिए कार्य करने का आह्रवान किया।
